Accessibility statement
Gardening information should be readable by everyone who wants to grow something. We aim to meet WCAG 2.1 Level AA across this site.
What we do
- A skip-to-content link is the first focusable element on every page.
- The whole site, including the mobile menu and every form, is operable by keyboard alone.
- Focus is visible on links, buttons and form fields.
- Pages use semantic landmarks — header, navigation, main and footer — and one H1 per page.
- Headings follow a logical order so screen-reader users can navigate long guides by structure.
- Content images carry descriptive alt text; decorative images are hidden from assistive technology.
- Body and interface text targets a 4.5:1 contrast ratio against its background.
- Every form field has a programmatically associated label, and errors are announced, not color-only.
- Layouts reflow to 320px without horizontal scrolling and support browser zoom to 200%.
Known limitations
Some older guide images predate our current alt-text standard and are being rewritten. Third-party retailer pages reached through affiliate links are outside our control and may not meet the same standard.
Reporting a barrier
If something on this site blocks you, tell us through the contact page and describe the page and the assistive technology you use. We treat accessibility reports as priority fixes and will reply with a plan.
